Bodies of Water

Bodies of Water

With an uneven breath

She stepped into the water

Letting its coolness caress all

The intricate bones of her ankles,

The musculature of her legs,

The soft roundness of her hips.

As the water pressed in on her ribs

Her heart took on a rapid and thready beat

The smooth waves washed

Over her shoulders,

Around her neck

A full moon shone down

And her head disappeared

Under its reflection
